Swanson Russell’s Newest Employee Benefit is a Breath of Fresh Air

Swanson Russell has launched a new initiative inviting its team to live the outdoor lifestyle at the heart of their client work. The agency recently introduced BE OUTDOORS, an employee benefit program that provides team members with paid time off to get outside, recharge and reconnect with the activities that shape the industries of their marketing and advertising expertise.

With decades of experience, Swanson Russell has deep customer and category understanding in the agribusiness, construction, outdoor recreation and green industries. Their approach is rooted in how outdoor audiences think, work and unwind — and BE OUTDOORS is one more way the agency is building this understanding and connection with their staff.

The program offers employees dedicated time to engage in outdoor experiences of their choosing. Through activities like hiking, fishing, gardening, hunting and more, BE OUTDOORS was created to reinforce Swanson Russell’s belief that new perspectives are critical to the agency’s success.

“Our work is deeply rooted in the outdoors and so are many of our people,” said Brent Schott, CEO of Swanson Russell. “BE OUTDOORS is a meaningful way to recognize that connection and give our team the time and space to enjoy it. That’s important — not just for our culture, but for the kind of work we want to keep doing.”

Early participants have embraced the opportunity in personal ways. “I knew immediately I wanted to use the time to be in my garden,” said Experience Strategist Libby Heumiller. “It felt good to slow down, get my hands in the soil and do something that brings me joy.” Motion Editor Jake Allen used the time to visit the zoo with his family. “It gave us a day together we wouldn’t have had otherwise,” he said. “That kind of time is priceless.”

The BE OUTDOORS program reflects Swanson Russell’s investment in employee well-being and their focus on the real-life experiences that shape their work.
