Trust simplicity. For a variety of reasons, this past year taught me that simple wins over complex time and time again. This is especially true in interactive development, where advances in browser technology allow for significantly simplified development. As I strive to build more immersive and compelling experiences for our client’s products, the simple solution is most often the best.

Several of us braved the cold and snow to attend this year’s Nebraska ADDY awards banquet held in Omaha. The food was good, the theme was fun and the after party was even more fun, but my favorite part was seeing the work. It started as a great idea. It gave office workers, who had to sit in close quarters to each other in endless lines, a sense of privacy and space. It initially increased productivity and enabled focus. However, as popular culture states, cubicles became a symbol of isolation and uniformity. This is true in the creative field – there is something that dies inside a square structure covered in gray fabric.
